The project addresses the problem of student residences at the Politecnico of Milan, suggesting and giving rise to a strong correlation with the research center. The lot is located in the east of Milan (Città Studi), home to major universities including the Polytechnic, in particular, is localized in adherence with the Department of Chemical Engineering.
The project, as anticipated, wants to create a unique center that collects residences for researchers / students and a real research center, parallel to this theme is joined the theme of "good practice" that a building within a faculty of architecture and engineering must support. Precisely for this reason have been carried out important research in the area of sustainability and quality of comfort. The building consists of two main volumes that define the related functions, the first volume extends horizontally for a total of 3 floors and includes the research center with its laboratories, offices and conference rooms for this area since the close relationship with the garden it was decided to create a portal that allows the journey through the building. The second volume "vertically" for a further 9 floors for student residences, within the type of residence we introduced the concept of SOHO (small office home office) that will enable students and researchers to have a "small office" inside the residence also to develop parallel projects. |
